Welcome to our show, “Saving the Ocean with Defelia the Mermaid.” In our show today, we will tell a special story about a mermaid named Defelia, joined by her wonderful friends in the sea and on land. It all started with a single plastic bag, flying around on a windy day, by the ocean. Where does it come from and where does it end up? Let’s watch. The wind took it up over forests and rivers, and it eventually sank into the deep waters of the ocean. As it drifted downward, Timmy excitedly swam towards it and tried to eat it, but his head got stuck with-in. Just as he started to panic, his best friend, the mermaid Defelia appeared, as she always did, when her friend was in trouble. This rubbish and fishing business has gotten very serious. It is hurting so many of our animal friends every day. We need everyone here to help save our ocean life. I must do something! I am going to go to shore and try and talk to the humans. Maybe if we tell them about all the damage they’re causing, they might stop eating us and destroying our home. Jazzy and her mom walked down to the beach. Jazzy noticed a girl swimming along the shoreline. It was Defelia the Mermaid who waved at her. Wait, would you let Jazzy be a mermaid for a day and come with me with her underwater camera? Maybe you can take some photos of the mess in the ocean, and show them to other humans. I have magic shells for special occasions. All Jazzy has to do is wear it here then we are connected. She can turn into a mermaid with a tail, and can breathe under water. Defelia and Jazzy waved to mom before swimming off into the ocean. Their adventure had just begun.
