On today’s show, we continue to explore the power of femininity in veganism as we meet Lisa Wade, a plant-based advocate of over ten years, whose love for animal-persons helped guide her back to her true peace-loving nature.

When she was 18, she and her family relocated to the United States, where she studied psychology and finished her education to become a teacher – and soon after, a vegan! However, when Lisa became pregnant over twenty years ago, information about plant-based nutrition during pregnancy was still very scarce, especially in the medical community. Lisa was advised to at least consume the meat of fish-people and dairy products. So she interrupted her vegan journey at that time – a decision she regrets today.

“About ten years ago, a number of circumstances happened that just made me realize that it really was time to stick with my gut feelings and do what I knew was right, which was not to eat animals anymore.” Since then, Lisa has been an enthusiastic champion of veganism.

When asked why she would advocate the welfare of animal-people over that of humans, Lisa responded like someone who genuinely envisions future life on this planet through the lens of love, compassion, and caring. “I really think that changing what we eat is the most powerful thing that we can do. And that's not just my opinion. There've actually been numerous studies that have shown this. Many studies came out of Oxford University, and they discovered that if the whole world were to go vegan, we could actually free up land the size of the continent of Africa and still have enough land to feed the world.”

“I certainly think that this time in history is really important. I think that when people look around and see the environmental devastation, when they understand that we are facing the sixth mass extinction, and when they look at the pandemic, which is caused by exploiting animals, I think people are starting to realize that now is the time to do something about it. These problems are the Earth crying out to us, and telling us that it's time for a change.”
